BANK OF AMERICA LINKED RULING IN DARWIN COURT CASE

The long awaited judgment in the case involving pioneering former Darwin Aboriginal art gallery identity, Ms Shirley Collins, is to be delivered this Friday . Federal Court Magistrate,Toni Lucev, will present the finding in a telephone  hook up between Perth , Darwin and Canberra at 3.30pm Darwin time . Ms Collins challenged the Canberra Department of Finance and Deregulation rejection by a public servant for her grace in favour payment  application arising out of her involvement in the Bank of American Down Under Tour of the US in the lead up to the Sydney Olympics which resulted in her financial ruin. It was claimed that Ms Collins was made the scapegoat  for  shortcomings in high places involved with the event. In the long legal battle for compensation,it was revealed through freedom of information that one party was prepared to pay her up to $100,000, but she did not receive one cent . It was argued in court that the public servant had acted as  both case manager  and  decision maker , contrary to the guidelines for such applications. It is understood that an attempt has been made to try and include former Darwin chartered  accountant , Barrie Percival , now living in Brisbane , who has long backed  Ms Collins  in the struggle , in the hook up.
