NORTHERN TERRITORY HISTORY

The  Genealogical Society  of  the  Northern  Territory has  issued a  reminder   for  its  talks,  sponsored  by the  City of  Darwin Council, which start on  February 27,  held  fortnightly until   April  24. . The  subjects  are : February  27, Dive,dive,dive!-the story  of  the Imperial  Japanese   Navy  Submarine, i-124. March 13 , Remembering our Past  Through Cemeteries – A journey through  the pioneering efforts of  those now resting in  Goyder  Road  Cemetery. March 27 , Life  in  Smith Street before the  Mall – from Goyder’s arrival in 1869 and  his naming  of   streets in the CBD. April 10, Skins,  Pearlshell and Scales: Mariners, Pearlers and Traders! – A Snapshot of  the  Haritos family. April 24, Chinese in the NT since 1880s – Chung Wah Society, Chinese   Museum  and  the  Chinese Temple
