Unexpected contact has been made by this blog with Swedish artist Ture Sjolander , inventor of computer animation in the l960s . We gave him a lift to the ferry terminal on Magnetic Island on a hot and steamy day. During the short journey he mentioned New York , the interesting time he spent in an isolated village in New Guinea, flown in by helicopter, and Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the presidency election campaign .
An article written by Aapo Saask in November 2006 said Sjolander , living in exile on Magnetic Island , like so many others in the modern media landscape , had at first been praised , then brought to dust.
His website contains wide ranging comments on Australian politics and the media , Cuba , Sweden and offers of limited edition prints which include Charlie Chaplin . He is quoted as saying the 2010 Australian federal election was ugly and hateful , openly promoted and corrupted by the main news media .
