FASHIONABLE FOURSOME POSE FOR CAMERA IN NEW ZEALAND

Linked arm in arm , all employed in the  millinery  department of  Rendell's Store in Auckland  , they  sport  an  array of  hats, coats, handbags , gloves and  fox  furs in  this  circa early 1950s  snap .  From  the  left , they  are :  Marj Polworth , called Polly ;  Vel Walsh , known as  Wally ; Gwendaline  Merfield  , called  Tot  ; Gwen   Stacey, who pre-war  ran her own  millinery shop , worked  in the exclusive  Betty Moura  Bonnet Shop  in  Vulcan Lane , which  included customers who were members of the Jewish community ,   later  buyer for  the  George  Court  department  store ,  Karangahape  Road  , Auckland . 
 
A  similar photograph of the group , stored  away somewhere  , was taken  30 years  later  and   this  blog  hopes  to  be  able  to  post  it  in  the  near  future .
