CURLEW CONUNDRUM : WHY UNSEASONAL EGG LAYING ?

At  a  time when Bush stone-Curlews  do not usually  lay eggs, our resident  pair produced  two  googs   which , we  are  told, will make it  difficult for any hatchlings to survive  because  of  the  cold  weather .

After   getting over the strain of  watching over the  last chick  which , thankfully, survived and  flew  away, we  are now faced with  this  looming  situation ... could Alice Springs beanies be the answer  ?
